Chapter 2.4 – My Life as Janitor, Housekeeper

Months had passed; I transferred to another home again, my friends home at the farm. After a week, I decided and asked him “my friend” to help me, to bring me in my Auntie’s home at San Fernando City, La Union.

We traveled to San Fernando City, we searched my Auntie’s home, we found it, and I stayed at my Auntie Baby home for two weeks.

Two weeks later, my Auntie said: “I have to leave their house, to live and spend my life at the Catholic Church” so I can become a sacristan. My thoughts… I don’t want to become a sacristan, to live at Church.

Then, I left my Auntie Baby’s house. And I traveled back to Villa Santa Barbara, Pangasinan, and then here, I started working as a house janitor to one of the Administrative staff of Dagupan City, Municipal Hall.

Being a janitor of his house, I did feeding his dogs; he has about more than ten dogs, a Bulldog, Rottweiler, Mini Pincher, Labrador, Chihuahua, and Shih Tzu.

While working as a janitor, and as dog caretaker; I still pursued, enrolled, and attended for the second time as freshman high school.

I rose at 3:00 in the morning to clean the dog’s waste, and feed them. By 5:00 am, I cleaned the house, at 7:00 am, I attend class.

After the class, at 5:00 in the afternoon, I traveled from Villa Santa Barbara to Dagupan City, to get the dog’s food from the restaurant. Then, go back to Villa Santa Barbara, and feed the dogs up to 9:00 in the evening.

After feeding, and bathing the dogs, I have to cook rice, wash dishes, cleaning the house before going to bed, and my work ends at 12:00 midnight. It’s a daily routine. But, I gave up my schooling, because I got tired. I also resigned; quit my job as a janitor, and as dog caretaker. That time my salary was 900 pesos per month.
